Glossary
The words behind the invisible journal.
Plain definitions of the ideas MetaLife is built on.
- Invisible journal
- An invisible journal captures and organizes your life in the background, so you get the benefits of journaling — reflection, self-knowledge, seeing your patterns — without the daily ritual. You share a moment in whatever form is natural; the journaling work is done for you. MetaLife is an invisible journal.
- Capture
- To capture is to share a moment with MetaLife in whatever form is natural — a line of text, a voice note, a photo — on the web or in Telegram. It's the one thing you do; MetaLife handles the rest. There's no form to fill and no blank page.
- AI assistant
- MetaLife's AI assistant reads what you capture, remembers your goals, habits, and patterns, and reflects them back: nudging you, answering questions about your own life, and helping you act. You can talk to it on the web or in Telegram.
- Timeline
- Your life, summarized over time — days, weeks, and longer arcs written from what you've captured. Instead of scrolling raw entries, you see the story: what happened, what changed, and the patterns underneath. (Available on the Pro plan.)
- Second brain
- An external store for the things you want to remember — articles, ideas, highlights, facts — that you can search and recall on demand. MetaLife's second brain indexes what you save and connects it to your life, so you can ask "what do I know about X?" and get an answer.
- Multi-facet extraction
- How MetaLife reads a single moment for everything it contains. "Dinner with Sara, Thai curry, 650 calories" is at once a meal, a social moment, and a number worth tracking — extracted all at once, so nothing is lost and you never have to pick one category.
- Spaced repetition
- A study method that resurfaces what you're learning at increasing intervals — right before you'd forget it — so it sticks with less effort. MetaLife uses it to turn the things you save into lasting recall.
- AI life coach
- Software that knows your goals, habits, and patterns and helps you act on them — proactive nudges, reflection, and accountability, whenever you need it. In MetaLife, that's your AI assistant, grounded in the life you've actually captured.
